Car 50, prepared and rearing to embark on this year’s annual Camp Quality esCarpade taking off in October 2011 from Bendigo to Bright, Victoria.
Michael and John, a little more experienced this being their second year round convinced colleague Paul Moujalli to embark on this 7 day adventure, taking off from the South Victorian border.
This journey was going to lead them to and across some of Australia’s most historic landmarks.
Driving along The Great Ocean Road, the sighting of The Twelve Apostles, Bells Beach, the breathtaking Otway’s rainforest and the iconic Murray River just to name a few.
Some of the more memorable moments of this trip for Car 50 were on the sandy bush-tracks of Lake Mundi. Car 50 was bogged down, helping others that were caught in the sand; this was all part of the experience. Despite the 35 degree heat, Michael said this was one of the most unforgettable experiences on the trip.
There were theme nights, karaoke singing and the amazing kids from Katunga and Invergordon Primary Schools who were fortunate enough to see the Camp Quality puppet show and to meet some team members and their parade of loud coloured cars that rolled into town.
Michael, John and Paul with their ongoing enthusiasm and dedication were able to raise a total of $61,560.66 for Camp Quality. Car 50 was awarded the highest fund raiser as an individual entrant. This was a great achievement for Car 50 in only its second year as part of the Camp Quality esCarpade.
Car 50 was also honoured with the Spirit of Camp Quality award which is for “extraordinary excellence, participation and the willingness to assist other entrants and the overall enthusiasm for this adventure”.
John Dominello was presented with The Giggles Award on behalf of Car 50 for providing the most laughs and enthusiasm on the trip.
The 2011 esCarpade raised an incredible $1.43 million dollars for Camp Quality to assist the ongoing programs supporting children and their families living with cancer.
We would like to sincerely thank our valued sponsors for their ongoing donations and support and hope that we can make 2012 an even bigger and better year than the last.
